Probably Worth Sharing is funded by my paid subscribers on Substack.

I want to be accountable to one group: you, my readers and viewers.

I want to make sure I can share my honest point of view. This means I do not take freebies and I do not take money from the food industry. Following James Hoffmann’s model of ethics, I plan to disclose any and all advertising, freebies, and conflicts of interest when present.

Below is my public statement of ethics. Last updated in June 2023.

Sponsored Content

Currently there are no sponsored products, partnerships, paid product placements, gifts, or other ads within my videos or recipes.

In the future, if this changes, anything that meets the criteria above will be marked clearly as sponsored.

Do not send me gifts, I will return them.

If you are interested in working with me, please email me.

Links to Products

I have a lot of links to products in my content. This is for a few reasons:

  • I have bought these products with my own money, use them, and love them – and think you might too.

  • People ask what it is and where it’s from.

  • There are some old Amazon affiliate links, but I have stopped adding new ones.

Unless otherwise stated, everything shown in the videos and on this blog was purchased with my own money.

Instagram Stories

I frequently post about the local restaurants I’m going to, some on a recurring basis. Everything I share is food I bought and paid for myself. I am sharing this because I want to help encourage the development of the food community here in Kitchener and specifically to support community-minded business owners with whatever platform I have. It’s also a great way for me to practice my photography skills.

I don’t take freebies. I don’t have business relationships with these businesses, but sometimes I do become friends with them as I get to know them as people. I don’t get paid to post about restaurants. It’s a small way of giving back to the community I live in and to help nurture its growth.

Made in Canada and Small Producers

I think it’s very important to look at where products are made. Manufacturing locally, with sustainable materials, and independently produced goods are things I prioritize. I go out of my way to include these products in my videos and photography. None of these are paid sponsorships or gifts, I’m trying to use what platform I have to help create change.

If you are a maker and have work you think I would like, I’d love to see it – but don’t send gifts or free products. I will return them. Please email me instead.
