The cross-country road trip
Canada and the US · 5 legs · 38 stops
In September 2024 I did something I’ve always wanted to do: I drove across Canada in an electric pickup truck, a Rivian R1T, and filmed episodes of my cooking show in the parks along the way. Canada is gigantic: it took five days just to drive across Ontario.
From Vancouver Island I drove down the west coast, through the US national parks, and back to Kitchener, then kept going east to Nova Scotia.
The legs
-
Leg 1
Cross Country Canada
Kitchener to Victoria: five days just to cross Ontario, a charging problem that cost me a day, then the Prairies, the Rockies, and Vancouver Island.
-
Leg 2
Down the West Coast
The ferry from Victoria to Washington, ten days in Portland, then down to San Francisco by way of the Weasku Inn.
-
Leg 3
U.S. National Park Historic Lodges
Yosemite, Death Valley, the Grand Canyon, Zion, and Bryce Canyon, staying at each park's historic lodge or cabins.
- Leg 4 Moab, Colorado, and Kitchener A night in Moab, a few days in Boulder, then two days across the Midwest back to Kitchener.
- Leg 5 East to Nova Scotia Kitchener to Nova Scotia through the cities: Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Fredericton, and Halifax.
The episodes
I filmed these videos in September and October 2024. I haven’t had time to finish editing them yet. When I got home at the end of the trip, I moved to a new province and started a new full-time job as a VP of Marketing. Then I bought land and started building a house. So, it’s been busy!
